Focus Today (2004)

Jon Beauregard, Selina Smith, and Albert Dayan
FOCUS TODAY casts the audience as employees of the fictional firm Ninetech Incorporated who are spending their weekend at a “voluntary” motivational seminar. Three “success experts” use “Broadway-style” musical numbers to bring the one-word principles expounded on motivational posters to singing, dancing life. In the end, the audience’s workbook scores make them bears, monkeys, big cats – or unemployed.

Backstage West – (Critic’s Pick) “A lively and indeed unexpectedly unnerving production.”

LA Weekly – (Pick Of The Week) “Despite the effectiveness of the bull’s-eye lampoons… this is actually a blood-chilling outing that grapples head-on with the corporate dagger behind the cloak in a cost-cutting era.”

LA Times - “Downsizing with a vengeance, they get outsized laughs.”
